Lest we forget...

...men's fashion exists too! I know I dedicate most of my posts on this blog to the ladies of fashion, but sometimes I am so taken with a street style photo of a gentleman's style that I am brought back to reality. Most often, the person bringing me back is photographer Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist. His photography makes me understand that a man's style can be just as enigmatic and interesting to the eye at as a woman's. This time, this photo was the culprit.

The layering is stellar. The tailor of his pants is perfectamundo. The pop of red. The beanie. And if I were his girlfriend I would steal that sweater and wear it every day.

[Look of the Week]

Sunday. Every week. Be here pretty please to see my Look of the Week. Here's how it's going to go down:

1. I'll look at everything I normally look at on the internet (street style, red carpet, editorial, etc).
2. I'll keep my absolute favorites in a folder.
3. On Sundays I'll post the look and tell you why I chose it.

And would you look at that! It's Sunday!

How could I go wrong with an image from the Sartorialist as my inaugural Look of the Week? Two things were responsible for this being the best outfit I saw this week. Firstly, the boots. This is about as perfect as the boots/jeans combo gets. And secondly, the high/low appearance of her totes is a breath of fresh air. It says, "I love having an investment bag, but I also have to carry my shit around."

What were your favorites this week?

It's All About The Dress

Since I am practically attached at the hip with both Twitter and my Google Reader (a.k.a. the only reason I manage to at least scan 28 different blogs once every one to two days) I see a lot of photos of "fashion." But coming across a photo (runway, street style, editorial) of a beautiful woman in a fantastic dress always gets me.

Those tend to be some of the photos that stick with me most. I find myself wanting to go back and look at them time and time again. Usually I'll end up asking a friend, "Did you see that dress Gwenyth wore last night??" I guess the gowns just have more impact than, let's say...pants.

But I digress. Here are just a few of the gowns that have wowed me in recent memory.

Jason Wu Spring 2013 RTW

This is not a dress. This IS the starry night sky.

Blake Lively in Zuhair Murad

This happened over the summer. I might have been speechless. There is nothing about this that isn't perfect.

Allison Williams in Naheem Khan Spring 2013

The proof is in the puddin', people. You can indeed cover up 85-90% of your body and still look sexy as hell. And did you know that Allison here is the daughter of news anchor and personality, Brian Williams? I learned this today.

Jamie Beck in Rae Francis / Kelly Framel in White + Warren

There are technically two dresses here. But they are a package deal, in my humble opinion. Jamie and Kelly (two of my most favorite bloggers that just happen to be best friends) are here shown gallivanting around Paris in the rain looking just fabulous.  These girls are about the only two who could pull off coordinating or matching outfits. And they do it well too.

I know this isn't really a dress, but a shirt-skirt combo. I had to include it anyway because 1) It's the same concept and 2) I had a similar reaction the first time I saw this photo as I did the previous four photos. The woman in this photo is the epitome of comfort AND chic. ALL AT ONCE. From the ballet flats to the stretch of the skirt to the cut of her tank top, this is a woman who knows how to dress with practicality and style.

I believe the reason I am so enamored with this photo is that this is what I aim for my personal style to be. Because I know me. I know that I will complain if I am uncomfortable or cold. I will wish I put flats in my bag every time. So I love to witness someone perfect the art of balancing comfort and style.

I want to know about your favorite dress moments. Tell me in the comments!

Fall/Winter Street Style

Street style is something I will probably end up talking about (and posting pictures of) quite a bit on here, for many reasons. The evolution of street style and its current, some say 'commercialized,' state are beasts unto themselves. But I really just like looking at the pictures. Seeing what 'taste-makers' put on when they wake up in the morning, regardless of why they choose to put it on, is fascinating to me. It's as much about the photographer as it is the subject.

So here are some of my favorite street style photos as of late.

Can I get an AMEN on the printed pant? I'm pretty sure I wasn't only one who was sick of wearing only printed tops and solid bottoms. Annnnnnd....I've worn my scarf like this every day sine I saw this picture.

My favorite thing about this photograph is that you instinctively know that it was taken in Paris the moment you lay eyes on it. There's no mistaking that late afternoon light. Even though those shoes are questionable.

I feel like this is what I want my fall/winter uniform to be. Interesting bottom. Slouchy, chunky sweater. Cool-as-hell boots.

And what can I say about this? Everything about it is perfect. And effortless. And don't you just want to be her?
